Taxes and Tax Exemptions

If you are located in the following states, your order (including shipping and handling where applicable) will be assessed sales tax in accordance with state and local rates as required: California, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin.

If you are located in California, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin and have a tax exemption number, please supply it when you place your order. (We include a field on our online order form for this purpose.) You will also need to provide us with a copy of your exemption certificate, which we will retain for our records. We will be unable to process your order until we receive a copy of your tax exemption certification, so please fax it to 1-410-337-8539 immediately after placing your order. Please be sure to reference your web order confirmation number.

Canada

As required by Canada, all orders shipped to Canada will be charged the applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate on the total order cost (including shipping and handling).

Health Professions Press offers bulk discounts on our products. A small number of our titles may be discount restricted and will not be covered under this advertised discount schedule. If applicable, your bulk discount will be automatically applied at checkout. If a single order is broken into multiple shipments, each individual shipment will receive the bulk discount that is applicable, not a bulk discount based on the quantity of the entire order.

Other international locations

Orders are typically processed within 72 hours of receipt and shipped by way of an international Freight Forwarding service using the courier of the forwarder’s choice in order to offer the most reliable delivery for each global location. Delivery times are estimated as 3–6 weeks, but are frequently impacted by local customs clearance and may vary. Any customs fees, duty, or taxes are the responsibility of the receiver and will not appear on your order. These fees cannot be estimated by Health Professions Press and will be billed to the receiver directly by the courier or government agency upon import.

Because we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for our titles (unless otherwise indicated). At any time within the 30 days, you may return the product for a full refund or credit of the purchase price, less the shipping and handling costs.

Just follow these three easy steps to return a purchase:

Make sure the item is in resalable condition. We cannot refund or credit returned products that are marked or damaged.
Enclose a copy of your invoice. Please include a copy of the original invoice (or the invoice number and invoice date) with the returned product so we can issue the proper credit or refund.
Ship the package to our returns department.

To guarantee delivery, please insure your package and ship it by UPS (or other traceable delivery service). We cannot issue refunds for packages that are lost in transit without proof of return attempt.

Defective Products

Defective products may be returned for replacement or full credit. They must be reported and returned within 30 days (15 days for DVDs) of the invoice date. To report a defective item to our Customer Service Department, call 888-337-8808, fax 1-410-337-8539 or contact us through our online Customer Support Center.

Returns from Booksellers

Booksellers must request permission to return in writing. Requests must include the following:

a copy of the original invoice and the return authorization
titles and quantities intended for return
reason for return

The permission granted is valid for thirty (30) days from the date of the original request. Returns received after this 30-day period will be charged a 10% penalty for late returns. Please submit return authorization requests to the attention of the Brookes Publishing Co. Returns Division via fax to: 410-337-8539.

Returns for credit must be requested within six (6) months of the original invoice date for full credit. Only partial credit will be given for books returned six (6) months or more after the original invoice date. No returns will be accepted after one (1) year.

All returns must be received in unmarked, undamaged, re-salable condition. Any returns received damaged will be destroyed and a 50% penalty will be assessed.

Resellers do NOT have return privileges for DVDs.

All books returned for credit must be postpaid and delivered (after receiving permission) to our distribution center:
